Police are investigating a report in which a 52-year-old hunter died after swimming in a nearby pond.
Loop News was told the deceased has been identified as Emmanuel Edwards of Harril Trace, Barrackpore.
According to police reports, Edwards was with a group of friends at his home around 2pm Saturday when they opted to ‘take a dip’ in a nearby pond.
However, upon entering the water, Edwards did not resurface.
Alarms were raised, and persons in the village aided in the search for Edwards.
His body was found stuck in the mud. It was brought to the shore, however, attempts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful.
The police were notified and a team of officers led by Insp Ramlogan, Cpl Suliman, and PC Ramsahai, among others, visited the scene.
The body was viewed by a district medical officer and ordered removed from the scene.
It was taken to the mortuary of the San Fernando General Hospital where a post mortem is expected to take place, pending a Covid-19 test.
PC Ramsahai is continuing inquiries.
