Hoboken, NJ, – On Tuesday, June 15, 2021, Gabriela Gross, a freshman from Hoboken High School was selected to participate in the 2021 USA Ice Hockey Girls 15 Player Development Camp. Gabriela was identified as one of the best female players in the country in the year of her birth 2006. As such, she has earned the opportunity to train and compete against the best competition of her age group nationwide.
“It’s no surprise to hear about Gabby’s selection for this prestigious position. I’ve seen her work at school as a freshman and what she achieved in class.” said Robin Piccapietra, principal of Hoboken High School. “This selection speaks to Gabby’s determination and ability to put 150% into everything he’s working on.”
During the advanced USA ice hockey field, players will experience a competitive and age-specific environment with ice training (drills, small area games, competitions, etc.) and off-ice training (strength and conditioning, team building, nutrition, classroom, etc.). The ice curriculum emphasizes age-specific skill development and aligns with the principles of USA Hockey’s American Development Model (ADM). Core strength and conditioning sessions will be introduced throughout the week and players will receive guidance and guidance from USA Hockey’s strength and conditioning staff on recommended best practices for improving in the areas of strength and conditioning, mobility, nutrition and overall athlete well-being. You
goal is to educate and equip players with knowledge and resources to foster their overall development. The top priority is that players show their competitive nature, take advantage of a great development opportunity and bond with players from all over the country.

The 2021 USA Hockey Girls 15 Player Ice Hockey Development Camp will be held July 10-15 at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, MN. This incredible opportunity for Gabby nationwide comes at the same time as Ice Hockey arrives at Hoboken High School. Next year, Hoboken High School will offer an NJSIAA ice hockey team. As a result of quality feeding programs, ice hockey is fast becoming a sport of choice for Hoboken high and middle school students.
“I’ve been playing hockey since I was 3 because of my dad.” Gabriele said. “My father instilled a love of hockey in me. My ultimate goal is to play for the Northeast Women’s Hockey Team and then for the United States Women’s Olympic Team.”
The Hoboken Public School District is proud to highlight Gabriela’s success. “I have known Gabriela Gross for six years. Off the ice, she is a tough student and a lovely young woman. She contributes positively to her school community every day. I can’t wait to hear all about her experience at 2021 USA Hockey Girls 15 Player Ice Hockey Development Camp and to see Gabriela in a Hoboken High School uniform next school year, ”said Christine Johnson, superintendent of the schools.
