The WTO considers Nigeria, 3 other vaccine manufacturing centers

The World Trade Organization (WTO) said Africa is working with the European Union and other partners to create regional vaccine manufacturing centers with Nigeria, South Africa, Senegal and Rwanda.

The director general of the WTO, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, who said this yesterday during a virtual meeting, said that “we have seen that the excessive centralization of vaccine production capacity is incompatible with equal access in a crisis situation. .

“Regional manufacturing hubs, in tandem with open supply chains, offer a more promising path to prepare for the future health crisis.” (Reuters / NAN)
