In September 2013, he announced plans to ‘make Bolton better’ and pledged to invest £5m in the local community, which included opening a makeup shop, run by his wife Faryal.
Does Amir Khan have any phobias and what else has he said about I’m A Celebrity?
“I am one guy who hates spiders,” he admits. “Whenever I see a spider at home, I get my sister to move it. I just don’t deal with it. I hope I don’t come across any of them when I am in the Jungle but I know I am going to.
“Will I scream? Yes definitely but maybe this is the time where I face my phobias!”
The boxer is hoping to show people he’s like outside of the ring and he’s keen to be outside of his comfort zone.
Khan believes he’ll become a leader in the jungle, one who will stand up for everyone and push the team forward to achieve their goals.
Although he’ll celebrate his birthday in jungle he knows his family is behind him.
Amir says that winning would be brillitant, “I will be King Khan! King of the Jungle – now that’s a great name!”

How did Amir Khan make his breakthrough?
Amir Khan’s boxing breakthrough came at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens where Khan surprised the entire field and became national darling when he boxed his way to Olympic silver at the age of just 17.
Khan only lost 30-22 to Cuba’s two-time defending champ Mario Kindelan in the lightweight final – missing out on becoming the youngest boxing Olympic champion since Floyd Patterson in 1952.
What is Amir Khan’s professional boxing record?
Amir Khan’s pro record is 31 wins and four defeats in 35 fights.
He then turned professional and made his debut against David Bailey in Bolton in July 2005 and knocked him out in the first round.
Khan then went on to score 18 wins as a pro, before he lost to Colombia’s Breidis Prescott in the MEN Arena in Manchester, thanks to a knockout.
Looking to get his career back on track, he went on to beat Paulie Malinaggi and Marcos Maidana in an eight-bout winning streak that stretched three years.
But Khan then lost to Lamont Peterson in December 2011, but was reinstated as WBA and IBF light-welterweight champ after the American failed a drugs test.
Seven months later, Khan would go on to lose to Danny Garcia on a technical knock out, but kept fighting on, beating Carlos Molina, Julio Diaz, Luis Collazo, Devon Alexander and Chris Algieri, before going down to Canelo Alvarez in May last year after stepping up to middleweight.
Khan then speculated that he may switch countries to Pakistan, after the Olympics began to accept pro boxers into the competition.
Last year, The Sun exclusively revealed that Khan had been fighting for 13 years with a broken HAND and had pins put into the limb to correct the problem.
In December, promoter Eddie Hearn confirmed Khan and Kell Brook are in talks to host a bumper bout, probably in the spring and most likely to be fought at welterweight.
However talks broke down between the pair with both boxers accusing the other of being the reason the fight was off.
Khan recently announced he was close to agreeing a showdown with Manny Pacquiao, but yet again the fight was called out with the Filipino’s promoter Bob Arum claiming the match up was “pie in the sky”.
What about Amir Khan’s personal life, wife and family?
Tweets from Amir Khan’s Twitter account had claimed he has split from wife Faryal Makhdoom… and accused her of cheating on him with Anthony Joshua.
A tweet on the boxer’s account read: “So me and the wife Faryal have agreed to split. I’m currently in Dubai. Wish her all the best.”
He later confirmed on snapchat that it was him tweeting it, after Faryal claimed her and Khan’s accounts had been hacked.
However, the couple have since appeared to repair their relationship after Amir Khan posted a cuddly selfie on Instagram.
Khan married Pakistani-American Faryal in May 2013 and the pair have a child, Lamaisah, who was born in 2014.
The pair met after being introduced by a mutual friend, but Makhdoom has had a series of fallings-out with Khan’s family, seeming to make fun of the Khans through her social media platforms.
Khan has previously had links to Katie Price, despite the former Page 3 model dating Alex Reid at the time – but the boxer has denied these claims.

Khan’s sex tape was believed to have been recorded just days after the world champ’s wedding to Faryal.
The woman in the video, from Arizona, had reportedly had a fling with Khan as far back as 2010.
