Tiger Woods set to make comeback at Hero World Challenge event next week

TIGER WOODS makes his latest comeback next week saying he is pain-free for the first time since 2014.

The 14-time Major champion returns at his own Hero World Challenge event having recovered from a fourth back operation in three years.

American Woods, 41, has not played competitive golf for ten months.

But former world No 1 Jason Day revealed:  “I talked to him and he did say it’s the best he’s ever felt in three years.

“He doesn’t wake up with pain any more, which is great.

“I understand where he’s coming from because sometimes it takes me about ten minutes to get out of bed.

“For him to be in pain for three years is frustrating. But he says he’s ready and I hope he is.

“From what he says, he’s been hitting it long — and if he is hitting it long and straight, it’s going to be tough for us.”

Meanwhile, Tommy Fleetwood was crowned European No 1 in Dubai last weekend.

Main rival Justin Rose fell at the final hurdle, giving Fleetwood the chance to wrap up victory.
