FOOTIE fans will today get the option of being identified as gender neutral on match tickets in a Premier League first.
They can spurn the traditional titles of Mr, Ms or Mrs and choose Mx for Swansea City’s home clash with AFC Bournemouth.
The Welsh side yesterday unveiled the change and said: “The Mx title, pronounced Mix or Mux, is available for all transgender and intersex people.
“It is also for people who don’t identify with one particular gender or don’t want to be identified as being male or female.”
TV’s Piers Morgan took to the internet to mock the idea.
He tweeted: “Congratulations, Swansea fans — you’re no longer male or female!”
But the club’s equality and diversity manager Lucy Norman defended the move.
She said: “We’re continually looking at ways to make our services more inclusive.”
Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe said: “Inclusion for everyone is massive.
“A real change in mentality will only benefit future generations.”
Stars of the sporting world will wear rainbow laces this weekend as part of a crusade to raise awareness of LGBT issues.
