Lonely Caen midfielder Ismael Diomande left behind in Strasbourg after team bus leaves without him

CAEN midfielder Ismael Diomande was left stranded as he missed the team bus back to the airport. The Ligue 1 club drew at Strasbourg in North-East France and the squad hop-footed it straight to the airport to board a flight back across the country straight after the game.

But Diomande didn’t get the message the team bus was not hanging about afterwards and stayed behind at the Stade de la Meinau to catch up with Strasbourg forward Idriss Saadi. But by the time the Ivory Coast international had finished chatting, the team bus had left for the airport without him. “But I did not panic. Fortunately, they didn’t take the flight without me.”

Roy Keane left for league game without three players late for team bus

“I’m waiting, I think they’ll drop me at the airport. But that’s crazy!” The 25-year-old made his own way to the airport to catch up with the rest of the squad before the flight took off.

Caen’s next away day will be at Toulouse on December 9 and Diomande, if he has any sense will be first back on the team bus before it departs. Caen are sixth in Ligue 1, 15 points behind leaders Paris Saint-Germain but six behind second placed Lyon.

Anthony Stokes, Marton Fulop and Tobias Hysen were late and Keane did not wait around and the trio missed the game at Oakwell. Brazilian wonderkid Malcom scores rocket for Bordeaux in Ligue 1.
