The 37-year-old has been sidelined since the 2-1 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday at the beginning of last month but is hopeful of making a return before the new year. But it appears a lengthy game of Monopoly is passing the time – complete with his own gold houses. Terry showed off the board on Instagram which is embroiled with his initials ‘JT’ and his Chelsea and Villa number ’26’ both in gold. The veteran kept his followers updated throughout the game and even showed off his stash of cash.

Away from the board games, JT has stepped up his recovery in an old school tried and trusted formula. Despite having all of the sports science and latest technology available, Terry went to Villa Park to run up and down the terracing. Alongside the clip, he wrote: “Old School Runs at Villa Park today before the game.
